Tapography — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 July 2026

The short version: Tapography is a free, non-commercial hobby project. I do not make money from it, I do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers, and I do not run any third-party tracking or analytics. I only store what the game needs to work — your Discord display name, your scores, and which servers you play in.

This policy explains what information Tapography ("the Service", "we", "I") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Tapography is a geography guessing game that runs as a Discord Activity and as a browser game at tapography.ftp.sh.

Information collected

When you play through Discord, using Discord's identify permission only, we receive and store:

We do not request or receive your email address, your Discord messages, your friends list, or any server content. Your Discord access token is used only momentarily to confirm your identity and is held briefly in memory — it is never written to disk.

When you play in a browser as a guest (no Discord login), we store:

Cookies

Tapography uses a single functional cookie (tg_guest) to remember a browser guest's game. There are no advertising, tracking, or analytics cookies of any kind.

How information is used

How information is shared

Data storage and retention

Data is stored in a private database on a personally operated server. It is kept for as long as needed to run the game and show historical leaderboards. You can ask to have your data deleted at any time (see Contact).

Security

The Service is served over HTTPS and reasonable measures are taken to protect your data. However, no method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and no guarantee of absolute security can be made.

Children

Tapography is not directed to children under 13. In line with Discord's Terms of Service, you must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use it.

Your choices

You can delete all of your data yourself at any time by running the /forget command in Discord — it immediately and permanently removes your scores, streaks, round history, and leaderboard standings. You can also stop using the Service at any time. To request access to the data associated with your account, contact me using the details below.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and the "Last updated" date above will change.
